In a really short time, we converted the Signal Iduna Park from natural to artificial grass during summer 2016 in order to guarantee an optimal growth of the turf even within the short summer break.

We installed a special turf-bearing layer for hybrid turf and then implanted the heiler Sporthybrid R system. Following that, a customised seeding mixture was sown. We covered the entire area with turf blankets which stimulates a particularly rapid growth of the grass.

It was well worth the effort: the BVB greenkeeping team took first place at the Pitch Of The Year Award in the 2016/2017 season.
