Shortly after the last home match in mid-November, the orange-and-green machines arrived in Leipzig to install a hybrid turf system at the Red Bull Arena.

As the system was being installed into an existing pitch, additional preparation was required. First, the grass was mown very short and the soil was deep-aerated. Electrically powered specialist machines then inserted 20 cm-long synthetic fibres into the existing natural turf.

The system selected for Leipzig was Sporthybrid R Premium, whose textured fibres provide enhanced protection for both the soil and the grass. This ensures lasting, consistent turf quality, supporting accurate passing, an excellent appearance for spectators, and reduced pitch damage and player injuries. From site setup to final acceptance, the work took a total of twelve days.
