During the 2026 summer break, heiler completely rebuilt the pitch at SV Werder Bremen’s Weserstadion. The existing hybrid turf and undersoil heating system were fully removed.

Following excavation, the heiler team prepared the subgrade and installed the new undersoil heating system with around 28 kilometres of heating pipes. The energy-saving Sportheat Eco insulation layer reduces the system’s energy consumption by up to 30 per cent, demonstrating a commitment to greater sustainability in professional football. The drainage and rootzone layers were then installed, followed by the laying of the new turf by our partner Hendriks Graszoden.

Finally, heiler installed the Sporthybrid R hybrid turf system. The 20-centimetre-long fibres are stitched into the natural turf, providing high shear resistance, good water permeability and a perfectly level surface across the 105 × 68-metre pitch. With hybrid turf and insulated undersoil heating, the Green-Whites now have a state-of-the-art Bundesliga pitch, ready in time for the start of the season and the “Tach der Fans” fan day featuring a match against AJ Auxerre.
